In 2020, it was reported that Disney was developing a sixth Pirates film with Margot Robbie in the lead role. However, there have been no updates on this project recently, and it is unclear whether it is still moving forward.
In 2023, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that he was still interested in making a sixth Pirates film with Depp, but that it was up to the actor to decide if he wanted to return. Depp has not publicly commented on whether he is interested in reprising the role.
Given the legal controversies surrounding Depp in recent years, it is possible that Disney may be hesitant to cast him in a major franchise film. However, Depp remains a popular actor with a large fan base, and there is no doubt that a Pirates film with him would be a box office draw.
Ultimately, the decision of whether or not Johnny Depp will be in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 rests with him and Disney. Only time will tell if they can come to an agreement that makes both parties happy.
