Samer Abu Daqqa (Abu Yazan; 1978 in Abasan al-Kabira - December 15, 2023 in Khan Yunis) is a Palestinian journalist, photographer, and critic. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media from Al-Azhar University.
The beginning of his career
He began his work as a journalist in Al-Shaab newspaper. In 2004, he moved to work for Al-Jazeera. He was one of the founders of the channel’s office in the Gaza Strip, where he worked as a photographer and technician for Al-Jazeera for more than twenty years.
His work on Al Jazeera
Abu Daqqa was one of Al Jazeera's most prominent Palestinian photographers, where he covered many important events in Palestine and the region, including the numerous Gaza wars, the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and the events of September 11.
Abu Daqqa was known for his professional commitment and devotion to his media mission. He was also known for his high artistic skills and ability to take distinctive photos.
His martyrdom
Abu Daqqa was martyred on December 15, 2023, while covering an Israeli bombing of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Many human rights and media organizations condemned the martyrdom of Abu Daqqa, and considered it a war crime.
His legacy
Abu Daqqa is considered one of the most prominent Palestinian journalists who died in order to cover events in Palestine.
Abu Daqqa is remembered in Palestine and the region as a symbol of the Palestinian struggle and freedom of the press

بداية حياته المهنية
بدأ عمله صحفيًا في صحيفة الشعب، انتقل عام 2004 للعمل في قناة الجزيرة وكان من مؤسسي مكتب القناة في قطاع حيث عمل فيه مصورًا وفنيًا للجزيرة لأكثر من عشرين عامًا.
عمله في قناة الجزيرة
كان أبو دقة أحد أبرز المصورين الفلسطينيين في قناة الجزيرة، حيث غطى العديد من الأحداث الهامة في فلسطين والمنطقة، بما في ذلك حروب العديدة، وانتفاضة الأقصى، وأحداث 11 سبتمبر.
كان أبو دقة معروفًا بالتزامه المهني وإخلاصه لرسالته الإعلامية، كما كان معروفًا بمهاراته الفنية العالية وقدرته على التقاط الصور المميزة.
